Assam HS 2018 Physics Question Paper Q.2(a):[marks=1+1]:  Give the statement of Coulomb’s law for the force between two point charges. Write this law in vector notation for two point charges of same magnitude and opposite sign separated by a distance r in vacuum.

Answer: Coulomb’s law states that the force between two point charges is directly proportional to the product of the charges and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them. The force acts along the line joining the two charges.

Answer: Drift velocity is the average velocity of free electrons moving inside a conductor under the influence of an applied electric field.

The mobility of a charge carrier is its drift velocity per unit applied electric field.
